BERTO FOR NN STREETWEAR: #INTERVIEW
Can you recall the exact moment when you decided to become a fashion designer?

We don't believe we have become fashion designers, or at least we do not define ourselves as such. We started our adventure spending our evenings in front of pizza and playstation, we are sofa-and-beer kind of guys. Then we realized could do something with our passions and that the game was on: so we simply started playing.
Our ideas usually come from Far East and USA: we love to mix the American vintage motorcycle spirit with Japanese streetwear.
What was your first project?

Our first project is called "THE ROAD" jumpsuit. We wanted to give our interpretation of a classic work overalls in a modern way, so we decided to completely rebuild the fit without destroying the essence of it wich is rough and raw.

The creative process: do you work in an instinctive way or do you plan every single step? Where do your ideas come from?

Since we are 2 we have to combine many influences and many different passions. We discuss them and then compare and then we try to reach something that makes us different from the crowd, very often joining our points of view. We are also always looking on updates on fashion, skate scene and tattoo culture. Our ideas usually come from Far East and USA: we love to mix the American vintage motorcycle spirit with Japanese streetwear.

What did you think when you have been contacted by Berto first?

Thanks to our producer we got to know more about Berto and we have got in touch with the company as soon as we discovered Berto4YoungTalents project.

Which Berto’s fabrics have you been working with for your project/collection?

We have used:
NEVADA BLUE DRY EL 11
NEVADA COLOR DRY EL 11 Z099
NEVADA COLOR DRY EL 11 Z087
NEVADA PXT EL 10.5

“Less but better” could be read as an endorsement for purity in design but in fashion design too. It can also be adopted as an environmental message about reduction and sustainability. What do you think about this?

Sustainability is nowadays fundamental: as for our business, we have tried to work exclusively with "Made in Italy" products at a fair price for everyone, which is our philosophy together with creating top quality products.

Is there anything you'd like to do that you haven't done yet?

Opening a store in Tokyo and New York.
