Berto for kjøre Project: interview
Can you recall the exact moment when you decided to become a fashion designer?

I have no idea, I don’t call myself a fashion designer, I’m rather someone with a degree in economics with a strong passion for design.

For us, environmental sustainability is important, it is a value in which we recognize ourselves: we use only natural materials and sustainable ones or otherwise coming from natural processes.

What was your first project?

My first project was a footwear line made during university time with some friends.

Creative process: do you work instinctively or planning each single small step? Where do your ideas come from?

Our creative process is very compulsive and ideas travel fast so you cannot slow down. Everything has to be supported by careful management, but not too much.

What did you think when you have been contacted by Berto first?

We came across Berto in December 2015 when we were looking for different fabrics from those we were using at the time: we wanted something more elegant, stylish and above all we were looking for real quality.

Which Berto’s fabrics have you been working with for your project/collection?

As for Berto materials we do have a great variety in our catalog: mostly we have used Kyoto, Aspen, Barbados and Red Silk.

What's the most meaningful part about this project in your opinion? What have you been able to achieve thanks to this program?

Together with Berto we managed to win the Global Denim Awards in Amsterdam: in the everyday routine our small company is constantly assisted by Berto's team, to whom we are very grateful.

“Less but better” could be read as an endorsement for purity in design but in fashion design too. It can also be adopted as an environmental message about reduction and sustainability. What do you think about this?

For us, environmental sustainability is important, it is a value in which we recognize ourselves: we use only natural materials and sustainable ones or otherwise coming from natural processes, such as our New Zealanders leathers .

Is there anything you'd like to do that you haven't done yet?

Everything yet… ;)
